Our group classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays currently include 3 levels: new to beginner, beginner to intermediate and intermediate to advanced. The class generally begins with all levels stretching, warming up and doing individual work (without a partner) together. After a short break (about two to three songs in length), the class is divided into the different levels for partner work, each with its own instructor(s).
On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, there are often simultaneous group classes in separate rooms before the social. Each group class has its own instructor(s) and a specific rhythm and level, as indicated on our website calendar. The beginner level generally ranges from beginner to lower intermediate, and the intermediate level from lower to mid-intermediate. Adjustments may be made at the discretion of the instructor(s) depending on the students in each class.
As a general guideline for the dance levels you may see on our website calendar and in our free email updates:
- New to beginner: Focused on newer and beginner-level dancers. Everyone is welcome (including new dancers) as long as they are comfortable, keeping in mind that this level does not focus on dancers with no experience.
- Beginner to intermediate: Focused on beginner to lower-intermediate level dancers.
- Intermediate to advanced: Focused on intermediate to lower-advanced level dancers.
- Beginner: Focused on beginner to lower-intermediate level dancers. Everyone is welcome (including new dancers) as long as they are comfortable, keeping in mind that this level does not focus on dancers with no experience.
- Intermediate: Focused on lower to mid-intermediate level dancers.
- All levels: Open to all levels and similar to beginner to intermediate.
What style of salsa is taught in your group classes?
Unless a specific salsa style is specified on our website calendar, our group salsa classes focus primarily on salsa on1 (inline salsa, also known as Los Angeles or LA style salsa), sometimes including elements from Colombian style and Cali style salsa.
What style of bachata is taught in your group classes?
Unless a specific bachata style is specified on our website calendar, our group bachata classes focus primarily on mainstream and sensual bachata, sometimes including elements from Dominican style bachata.
Do I need to have experience to take group classes?
No, you do not need to have experience for our group classes specified as new to beginner, beginner, and all levels on our website calendar. This said, if you would like to be a lot more comfortable in our group classes and dance socials, we also recommend taking private classes so we can help you more personally. Also keep in mind that our group classes do not currently have a level for dancers that have no dance experience, although if you are comfortable, you are welcome to participate in new to beginner, beginner and all levels.

Why is the amount you charge via PayPal not the same as the rate I see online?
Re: PayPal, people often assume they can get the flash rate, which is not attainable. All PayPal payments are made in US Dollars and DANCEFREE has to convert your payment to Colombian Pesos. You are welcome to pay via cash or card in person, via cash at any Bancolombia and via the App Bancolombia, and via PayPal, whichever is best for you. For us, whichever way you choose to pay is the same. We do not benefit from the payment option you choose. In-person payments currently unavailable due to COVID-19.
