    When you use your event pass or membership, you may enter the event for free. Events that you may use your event pass or membership for include all of the following (excluding events designated as "Special Event" on our calendar and Private Classes):

    • Events every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday that include a Group Dance Class from 8:00-9:30pm (Salsa on Mondays and Wednesdays, Bachata on Tuesdays) with 3 simultaneous levels (new to beginner, beginner to intermediate, intermediate to advanced) and a Dance Practice until 10:30pm.

    • Events every Thursday, Friday and Saturday that include a Language Exchange from 6:30-8:00pm, one or more Group Dance Classes from 8:15-9:30pm (see rhythm and level of each class on our calendar), and Bar/Social 9:30pm and after with 2 rooms: (1) 100% Salsa, (2) 100% Bachata.

    To enter an event using an event pass or membership, you must present a valid, government-issued photo ID at the reception. Free event passes and memberships begin on the purchase date of the Private Class hours, have no cash value, may not be exchanged for any other type of service or product, and may only be used by the student(s) the Private Class hours were purchased for. You may not share your event pass or membership. For the purchase of 1-9 Private Class hours, only new students (students who have never been scheduled for a Private Class by DANCEFREE) will be elegible for the offer. For the purchase of Private Class hours for 2 students, each eligible student will receive the offer. Si bien esta ciudad no posee salida al mar, el clima económico, financiero y aduanero creado por los gobiernos estatales en las últimas décadas, ha permitido la relocalización allí de importantes sectores industriales y de servicios. Otra de las consecuencias apenas normales de la inserción de esta vasta área urbana en el mercado global, ha sido que junto con las ciudades vecinas de Forth Worth y Arlington, conforme el área metropolitana del gran Dallas, convirtiéndola en la primera aglomeración urbana del estado con cerca de 7’400.479 habitantes, de los cuales 2’136.050, el 28,9%, son latinos.

Ese panorama económico y demográfico evidencia que, así en un principio el migrante arribe a zonas geográficas donde convive con connacionales, o en este caso con hispanohablantes, generalmente con arraigo en las grandes metrópolis, sus espacios vitales han dejado de circunscribirse a Miami, Nueva York y Los Ángeles. Para EE.UU. la migración latina representa una oportunidad de reencontrar parte de su origen mismo, la ancestralidad común que también hizo aportes valiosos en la construcción de nación. Lo latino y lo hispano llegaron para quedarse y ya ha transformado positivamente el imaginario colectivo norteamericano. Un reflejo de ello es el impulso que en el sector educativo está teniendo la formación bilingüe, donde el español se fortalece como segunda lengua. Según datos de la oficina del censo nacional, el 25% de la población total del país para el año 2040, será de origen latino y hablará español.

Dallas sorprende, porque cree romper con las hegemonías culturales, aunque en el fondo conserve ese embrión de las buenas formas y costumbres que no termina de aceptar lo que le parece extraño o diferente. No obstante, pareciera haber una esperanza, ya que pocas ciudades en Estados Unidos pueden tener un Distrito Cultural y Artístico en donde lo diverso es la manifestación de la riqueza de su cultura. Dijo Albert Einstein en carta a Sigmund Freud “todo lo que obra en favor de la cultura, obra contra la guerra”, y se podría agregar que obra contra la exclusión y la segregación social y racial. Eso es lo que ha logrado la comunidad latina e hispana en este distrito, pues desde el año 2003 gestiona y administra el Centro Cultural Latino (LCC). Desde entonces, como lo referencia la Oficina de Asuntos Culturales (OCA), por esas instalaciones han pasado alrededor de 43.000 personas en aproximadamente 300 espectáculos al año, con programaciones en artes escénicas y teatro, danza, bienales de arte, festivales musicales y muestras interactivas.
